We're excited about a new app from PBS KIDS that will get kids outdoors this fall exploring nature.
It's called Nature Cat's Great Outdoors app
Fall is a wonderful time to be outside. The leaves are changing colors and falling off trees, the temperatures are cooler and there are so many fun things for you and your family to explore like pumpkin patches, nature trails etc... why not make it even more exciting to explore with this fun app!
My kids love being outdoors and Grady has really been loving it. The app offers daily adventures and new challenges from Nature Cat and his friends. When playing it inspires kids to use their eyes and ears to find exciting new things. It also offers several tools that all nature explorers should have like Squeeks' Compass, Daisy's Camera, Hal's Sound Recorder as well as sketching and art tools, fun stickers and nature journals so your kids can record everything they find and see all in one place
A neighboring town had their annual 'Walk with Nature' that takes you around a historic canal all the way to a 40 acre pond and it was the perfect chance for Grady to use the app and explore nature.
I love that he was actually looking around for things and taking pictures instead of just walking along the trail doing nothing. When you start a Daily Adventure Nature Cat asks you what the weather's like for the day. If it's sunny it will cater to that condition. On the day we went it was rainy so he was able to use that!
He had fun telling us which way we were going since he had the compass. He also loved being able to add photos to his journal and sketching things he saw along the way. When we got home he loved showing us his journal and it was fun to see things through his perspective. It's a really fun, educational app and if your kids love being outdoors it's definitely work a download!
