Support the Produce for Kids 'Get Healthy, Give Hope' campaign and shop your local Meijer grocery produce section today!

Produce for Kids has kicked off their 12th annual 'Get Healthy, Give Hope' campaign which raises money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other community children's organizations.

Want to help? All you have to do is look for the Get Healthy, Give Hope signage when you are shopping your local Meijer grocery produce department or one of the other 17+ participating grocery store chains. When you make a purchase from one of the 35 participating fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers you will be making a difference. Suppliers will make a consumption-based donation, so the more item's you purchase the more local children's organizations will benefit. This year the Get Healthy, Give Hope campaign is expected to pass $5 million in overall contributions in 2014!

Join in the fun and try one of these yummy Meijer recipes that include many item's that will benefit the Get Healthy, Give Hope campaign.

 Easy Summer Salad


4 cups DOLE Spring Mix salad blend
8 oz. Markets of Meijer rotisserie chicken, skin removed and shredded
8 Large Well-Pict  strawberries, sliced
1 Cup Red Seedless Grapes, halved
4 Tbsp. Marzetti Light Raspberry Cabernet Vinaigrette dressing

Directions: Mix Salad, Chicken, Strawberries, Grapes and Dressing in a large bowl. (Mix well and divide into 2 servings)


 Chocolaty Fruit Skewer


1 Premade pound cake
1 Cup chunked pineapple
8 Well-Pict strawberries
8 Raspberries
1/4 Cup chocolate syrup
4 (6-inch) Bamboo skewers


Cut pound cake into 12 1x1 -inch squares. Then assemble skewers with pound cake, strawberries, raspberries, and pineapple. Drizzle with chocolate and enjoy!


Fuel Up French Toast


1 Tbsp. canola oil
2 Large eggs
1 Large egg white
1/2 Cup 1% milk
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
6 Slices whole wheat bread
1/2 Cup Naturipe strawberries (sliced)
1/2 Cup Naturipe blueberries
1/2 Cup lowfat vanilla yogurt
1/2 Cup granola


Heat oil in nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla in a small bowl until blended.
Dip bread into egg mixture, turning to soak both sides. Place in skillet and cook 4-5 minutes, or until browned, turning once. To finalize top each slice with strawberries, blueberries, yogurt and granola.
