If you’re up for an adventure this Valentine’s Day and looking for something sweet to do check out the Ohio Buckeye Candy Trail.
The trail kicked off in late 2018 and was launched by the Miami County Visitors & Convention Bureau and TourismOhio! It celebrates Ohio’s most beloved candy tradition –the buckeye. Named after the nut from the buckeye tree, this delectable treat is simple and sweet with just two components, peanut butter & chocolate.
The Buckeye Candy trail features more than 30 mom and pop businesses throughout the state that make their own unique versions of the buckeye. From the traditional buckeye to cookie dough and coconut buckeyes to buckeye sundaes and more, each of the stops on the trail has their very own take on the most popular candy of the state!
In Delaware County, stop by Sweet Tooth Cottage in Powell, Ohio where this family-owned bakery makes everything from scratch and their buckeyes are some of the best the state has to offer.
Other unique stops on the trail include Coblentz Chocolates which has been in business since 1987 and is nestled in Ohio’s Amish Country and Wittich’s Candy Shop, located in Circleville, Ohio and has been in business for over 178 years! It’s the nation’s oldest family owned and operated candy shop.
